brandway is Kathleen Brandt and Brian Lonsway. It is a malleable artist collective with Kathleen and Brian at its core whose work seeks to promote critical engagements with spatial technologies.
is an artist and designer who has worked in a variety of media to engage
questions of technology and the environment. Through installations,
videos, architectural designs, and electronic devices, Kathleen seeks
to highlight (unpack) our conflicted attitudes toward technological
developments and environmental awareness. The core of the artistic project
for Kathleen is in bringing scientific, sociological, cultural 'data'
(and debate) to a personal level through the conventions of exhibiting
and experiencing art objects.
Brian Lonsway is an architectural theorist and technology researcher whose work concerns the history and contemporary context of technological mediations of space. He has lectured and written on issues concerning the spatiality of computing, the architectural theory of data, and the post-structuralist semiotics of contemporary design practice. He is currently completing a book for Routledge Press entitled Making Leisure Work: Architecture and the Entertainment Economy, in press in 2007.
